Since its founding the Firm has represented employers, insurance carriers and third party administrators by aggressively defending workers’ compensation and occupational disease claims before the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission and on judicial review of Commission decisions in the Circuit and Appellate Courts of Illinois. George Picha, our senior partner, has concentrated his practice in workers’ compensation law since 1963 and has successfully defended numerous claims at the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission and at the appellate level. During most of his career he has shared his knowledge within the profession as well as with various employer and insurance organizations by authoring a chapter in the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education Workers’ Compensation Practice Handbook since 1972, which he still periodically updates or revises, and, together with other members of the Firm, by presenting articles and speaking at numerous educational seminars. With his leadership and training our other workers’ compensation attorneys have developed the skills and experience necessary to effectively protect the interests of our clients. The goal of our workers’ compensation practice is to protect our clients from excessive awards and help them effectively manage their claims with minimal cost and maximum effectiveness. Our attorneys regularly appear at the following Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission arbitration settings: Rockford, DeKalb, Geneva, Ottawa, Rock Falls, Rock Island and Woodstock. We are available to handle claims in other arbitration locations in Northern and North Central Illinois, exclusive of the Chicago metropolitan area, and of course at the appellate level.
